Interesting Shooting Positions
Whenever we visit a new wedding venue that we havent shot at previously we always have a look around for some interesting positions to shoot from. Whether its used for group shots or candids it generally makes for more interesting shots (and of course adds variety to the standard shots) if you can find some interesting angles and different levels where you can take photos from.
So last Sunday after meeting a lovely couple and discussing their photography requirements for their wedding that is taking place later ths year we did the usual thing and had a look around the venue to see what photo opportunities it had to offer.
This is Jon using a stone flower box to gain a bit of extra height which we could use for doing large group shots or if we wanted a shot from above of a smaller group. Fairly standard and usually if theres something safe for us to jump up onto that were allowed to you can bet we will be there snapping away.
After sussing out the venue we took a ride over to
St Nicolas’s Church in Alcester which is where the ceremony for the couple we had just met is taking place. It’s a great church very well maintained and well lit with some great photo opportunities and again we had a good a look around for shooting angles but I think Jon lost the plot a little bit whilst we were there.

I’m not quite sure what he was imagining when he was shooting this angle ! I think the chances of getting the Bride and Groom swinging from the lights (not to mention the church allowing such a thing) are pretty low, or maybe he was just tired ? Either way I think I better keep a closer eye on him from now on.
