Yesterdays race was a classic and entries for next years Virgin London Marathon are now being accepted, or least they will be when the site isn’t being swamped by people trying to register and will actually load.
I ran it in 2006 on a charity place for the BHF in memory of my brother Andy and have been trying to get in via the ballot ever since the 2006 race and will be registering again via the ballot as soon as the website will load.
Its such a fantastic race and a great experience to anyone who runs it but the downside of this is that its always massively oversubscribed, like over 10 runners competing for every place available through the ballot.
For the last 4 years I have applied and also bequeathed my entrance fee so I have a nice collection of fleeces/running tops (if you bequeath your entrance fee and don’t get in you get a running top as a consolation) and really hope that I am successful this time round and don’t get another top to add to my current collection.
Anyway, I will give the site one more go again now and then leave it until late tonight which is when I seem to recall it finally started working again last year…. being a bit of a night owl does have it advantages.
Last couple of weeks have been mega busy and I have quite a few pics from the last couple of weeks which I will start sharing in the next few days so check back soon to see what we have been up to.
Update : 3:45pm and the sites still not loading and they have stuck this message up which is quite amusing because to me “unprecedented” means never seen before and it was exactly the same situation last year where demand to register was so great the site was down for the whole day.
