(Actually it was more of a stately home than an Inn)
When we shoot a wedding we don’t really need much, we are in fact pretty self sufficient as we bring our own food and drinks (easier to eat sandwiches whilst working than it is a sit down meal) but the one thing we usually ask the venue for is a room of some sorts for when the guests are eating the wedding breakfast because that’s when we download our memory cards to the mac book, make the Honeymoon Album, create the slide show and have a quick bite to eat. This is all easier to do if we are tucked away somewhere we know all our gear is safe and we can kinda just chill, whilst frantically trying to do about 6 hours work in less than a couple of hours.
Pretty much every wedding we shoot we get a nice conference room or some other type of spare room out of the way but occasionally we are thrown a curve ball by a venue that just doesn’t have anything available, last weekend was one of those such occasions. Absolutely stunning venue in a great location, lovely grounds for photos, a great marquee for the wedding as well as great clients and their guests to work with.. pretty much perfect apart from absolutely no place to go to put the slide show and album together.
We sat on the dance floor doing it whilst the guests were eating their wedding breakfast and that was pretty cool and funky for a change, doubly so when the DJ started the music and light tests going and then when the dance floor was needed we moved elsewhere. As you can see from the pic below it wasn’t anything like your average conference room, the air conditioning was much better for a startand with the weather we had on Saturday it was actually really nice to sit outside doing it, definitely something that we will look forward to in the future…. so long as its not raining of course!
