We still have our .co.uk domain website but with this new site we wanted to give as much screen space to photos as possible and that’s exactly what we have done, the menu and our logo is tucked away at the bottom of the screen and there’s nothing else on the page apart from the photos.

I do however intend to catch up and share some photos from all the weddings we photographed during the last quarter of 2011 so get ready for some updates coming at you thick and fast over the next week or so, I have just counted up and I have almost 30 posts to make!

Before I get started on sharing wedding photos I wanted to share some great personal news from Jon and Danielle who welcomed baby James Henry White into the world on January the 3rd at 10:15pm. Weighing in at 7lb 14oz baby James and his proud parents are all doing great and we cant wait to see them very soon. Here’s a few photos Jon sent me, making good use of his iPhone’s camera and I am sure there will be lots more photos to come.

We raised a number of tickets with the then hosting company but there was a lack of action and improvement on their part so last week we went through the pain of moving everything to new a VPS (virtual private server) hosted with GlobalGold.

So far I am very pleased with the move, the client galleries and blog definitely load much snappier than they previously did and so far there has been no time-outs at all with just one 2 minute period of downtime whilst we ourselves were changing something on the server.

Additional to the hosting change I have also set-up new automated monitoring for the server so we can keep track of response time, server uptime etc. and it is also configured so that if the server does go down we immediately receive a text message and email to tell us there’s a problem. We are using Site24x7 for this.

Hopefully the end result of all these changes will be a better client experience when viewing photos on this blog and on our client galleries.

On Saturday Jon and I travelled down to London to capture Clare and Anthony’s great wedding and as someone who has very rarely driven into the “Big Smoke” I do admit to a few apprehensions beforehand about getting to E2 for the prep and ceremony and then on to the Hilton at Canary Wharf for the reception, but in the end the most trouble we had was getting back out of London at the end of the day. We  travelled in convoy on the way home and even leaving after 11pm the city centre was rammed so we took quite a few detours to try and avoid really long delays and its fair to say we had done half the monopoly board by the time we escaped to the M40, surprisingly good fun though after a long day.

Super day out with some really nice people so thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome and thanks once again to all the wedding guests that assisted in the “great wallet hunt” that Jon set-up for part of the day, I’ve only mentioned it about 20 times so far to him and have promised it will dropped after 10 years. Anyway enough waffle from me, here’s a few photos from the wedding.

We got challenged by the weather a couple of times during the day but Katie and Chris were absolute stars in making sure we had plenty of time with them for photos and always had a ready smile on their faces no matter what part of the day it was, it was an absolute pleasure to work with them.

I couldn’t post without one photo from the photo booth, please come back on Wednesday for a whole lot more of them because I assure you they are worth it. I think the later we run out photo booth during the evening reception the crazier they are and due to the weather interruptions on this day this was our latest one yet!

The Cotswold’s is such a lovely part of the country with many great wedding venues and at a short 45 minutes drive from our base here in Warwick its definitely somewhere we love to shoot so this is a wedding I will be looking forward to later this year. Here’s a few photos from our walk around the grounds at Cripps Barn last week.

After 10 years of shooting weddings Damien has now moved on to focusing on training other photographers and runs workshops for various different specialties and the course I attended yesterday was called Speedlight Mastery and focused on off camera flash using thew new Pocket Wizard TTL system.

It was a fantastic course and with a small class size of just 4 it was great to have plenty of time to shoot Katie,  our lovely model for the day and lots of time to chat with Damien and the other attendees. Here’s a few images from the course that were shot around Bristol city centre, all images straight from camera with no post processing, just re-sized for our blog.

We’ve always offered standard cards in most of our packages (and still do) and they are a great way of saying thanks to wedding guests after your big day and these new premium cards offer the same with something a little bit different added.
