Family Photo Shoot in the Studio

Here’s a few photos from a fun photo shoot we did in the studio last weekend with the delightful Katie and her parents Toby and Leanne. Katie was an absolute star during the whole shoot so we had great fun shooting these!

Family Portrait Photography | John & Hannah with their 3 great children

After photographing a great wedding in Birmingham on Friday we had Saturday morning to recover before the whirlwind of John and Hannah and their 3 great children hit us on Saturday afternoon. With 3 kids under the age of three years old they did warn us before hand that maybe we didn’t know what we were letting ourselves in for but even though it was like herding cats and dogs at times trying to get a shot of them altogether it was fabulous fun! Heres a few of my faves from the session.

Family Portrait Session for the Hay Family

Had great fun this evening doing a family portrait session with Andy, Helen and Caroline Hay and wanted to share a quick couple of pics from it that made me laugh. Andy and Helen’s daughter Caroline was a real character during the whole session but the series below in particular made me smile.

iPhone Photo or 5D MKII Photo ?

Everyone knows the camera on the iPhone is pretty poor (least thats what most of the reports will tell you anyway) but for web sized pictures can you tell the difference between a photo taken on the Apple iPhone 3GS and one taken on Canons newest digital full frame SLR the 5D MKII?

This is exactly what I was thinking to myself as I walked back from a shoot this evening and so I took a quick snap with each of them of approximately the same the same scene.

The cameras are a different crop ratio which would be an easy giveaway which was which so I have cropped them to the same ratio and processed them the same, although the exposures are a bit different because it was literally a quick snap as we walking back to the car.

I am sure some people will find it an easy spot but I have left the EXIF info in the pics anyway so you can confirm it once you have decided which is which. Ive also added a quick extra pic from today’s shoot, no processing on this yet just bordered to re size it for the web.

Photo Shoots

We’ve been asked quite a few times over the last few years whether or not we can do photo shoots, family portrait sessions, engagements, kids, maternity, newborn’s, pets and just about anything else you can take a photo of has been requested at one time or another but up until now we just haven’t had the time to be able to accept anything but the very occasional session.

Things are changing and we’re now in a position where we are able to accept a lot more of these requests and are going to start actively promoting ourselves much more in this area.

To start with we’ve created a couple of packages for our indoor and outdoor portrait sessions that we hope strikes a nice balance between a reasonable cost for the shoot, some included prints (and a discounted canvas in two packages) and very reasonable prices for extra prints.

If you look around at other companies offering portrait sessions then your sure to find the likes of Venture (and others) that offer very cheap and even free sessions but look a bit closer at their product prices and you will see why the sessions are so cheap because the mark up on the products is huge and the pressure to buy can also be considerable, that’s not our cup of tea!

Our print prices are very reasonable (e.g. 8×6 = £5.50, 12×8 = £9.50) and all the images from your session will be available for viewing on our website for one month so that you can take your time choosing your images.
