FAQ – Extended

This is an extended version of the Frequently Asked Questions from our portfolio website and includes some answers to questions that we sometimes get asked by our clients or other photographers.

Do you have insurance.
Oh yes, we actually have several insurance policies and although they cost us an arm and a leg each year and we have never had cause to use them (touch wood!) we wouldn’t shoot something as important as weddings without this level of cover.

Equipment insurance – If it was stolen before the wedding we could replace it all immediately or hire if the gear that we needed wasn’t immediately available.

Public Liability Insurance – If the videographer gets in my way one too many times and I accidentally drop my camera on his head this protects him and me against the costs of the resulting injuries. Same goes for the venue, if I save myself from falling out of a window whilst taking the group shots by grabbing onto their expensive curtains their costs are covered by this insurance.

Professional Indemnity Insurance – If I spontaneously combust with all the memory cards containing your wedding photos in my pocket then this insurance covers the cost of setting the day up again for a re-shoot.

Are you a member of a professional Association ?
Yes, We (Nick and Jon) are both members of the SWPP & BPPA and are actively working to enhance our current level of qualification within this organisation. Additionally Jon is also a licentiate of the Royal Photographic Society.
Both Nick and jon are active members of several Wedding Photography communities and help to run an international wedding photography community on the internet. Training and learning is an ongoing process for us and we attend several workshops/conferences each year to ensure that we are continually learning and developing our creative and business opportunities.

What if it rains on my wedding day ?
The weather is one thing that we do not have any control over, but we do plan and carry equipment (lighting stands, umbrellas, waterproof rugs etc) to help cater for bad weather and ensure that this doesn’t have a negative impact on your photos. 2007 was a particularly bad year for rain in the UK but in the 20 weddings we shot that year and despite driving through flood water to get to some of them we still managed some outdoor photos at every single one of them, we are with you for the day so we have every opportunity to get outside.

Do you take group shots ?
Whilst our photography coverage is mostly reportage style and unposed we are happy to organise and photograph whatever groups you would like and can advise you on how long will be required for whatever groups you want capturing. We always encourage couples to have at least a couple of large group shots, these are great in years to come when your remembering who was at your wedding.

Are you able to stay later than the first dance ?
Yes this is an option that we are happy to provide if you are planning something that you would like us to capture. Fireworks at midnight, the lighting of lanterns or a sparkler exit by the bride and groom etc. are all great photo opportunities that we have stayed to cover in the past and are happy to extend our coverage for in future..

My mum really hates having her picture taken how do you handle that ?
One of the advantages of always starting the day early with the bride and groom is that we have a chance to meet your family and friends and for them to get used to having us around during the more relaxed and informal part of the day.

How do we book you ?
Make contact with us by calling us on 01926 885114 or 07710 867167 or via the contact link at the top of this page or using the contact form on our portfolio website or just simply drop us an email. After an initial meeting in person (or over the phone for clients not in our area) we will propose a package that covers all your photography requirements.  If you then decide to book us to cover your big day we take a £200 deposit to secure us for the day of your wedding. We only cover one wedding per day and our availability is strictly first come first served, once the contract has been signed and the deposit paid were yours for that day but up til then we may follow up other inquiries.

Jo Cliffe - Hi Nick,

I hope you are well.

Thank you for taking the time to meet me and Stewart last weekend, we found it really helpful. I have a couple of queries please…

If we were to book you but do not want the engagement shoot would you be willing to replace it with the photo that had the guest signatures on the surround?

Would you deduct anything from the cost if we didn’t have the thank you cards?

Many thanks

Jo Cliffe
